Sash Clamps

What are Sash Clamps?
Sash clamps are set of clamps that are used normally in pairs. These set of metals are used to hold two pieces of wood or other materials tightly until the adhesives dries up. Sash clamps are made of combination of metals: steel (head) and iron (slides).

How to use?
Sash clamps are placed below the sections of the scrap wood (which glue is already applied). With one section of the scrap wood resting on one clamp, a small piece of wood is then inserted to the top of the wood section and then carefully tighten by the other free clamp until the head and the end of the bar closes the gap with the scrap wood. It remains there until the adhesive dries up. The one that tightens the clamps are called Tommy Bar, it tightens the clamps and increases the pressure slowly.

Hardware stores are just around every corner of the streets and offer several types and sizes. For a much wider selection, building and supply stores are much likely to offer you.

Be careful on choosing sash clamps you buy. Make sure that the materials used to make them are capable of working on what are you going to use it for. I’m not suggesting you buy expensive and branded clamps, I only say, in my own opinion suggest that, some less expensive sash clamps can be or are made of low grades metal and are most likely not going to last a long.
